Jennifer has more than 25 years experience in Speech and Language Therapy. She received her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University in New York before qualifying with her master’s degree at the University of Texas at Dallas. She worked in Texas in the United States before moving to Ireland in 2005.
Her experience includes working in Private Practice, Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorder, with a wide variety of ages and disorders. As well as extensive direct clinical experience in Early Intervention, management and supervision, she provides SLT mentoring to other therapists.
She also has experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC),including Lamh (signing),the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and high tech communication devices. Jennifer is trained in providing the Elklan programme, which trains education staff and parents to enable them to be more effective in their support and care of children with speech, language and communication needs.
She is also certified to present the Hanen parent training programmes It Takes Two to Talk, More Than Words and You Make the Difference. Jennifer recently began a choir for People with Parkinson’s through the charity Move 4 Parkinson’s.
She also offers the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Programme (LSVT-LOUD) to adults with Parkinson’s and children with Down syndrome and motor speech disorders. She has a special interest in paediatric disability. Jennifer is currently a member of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) and the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
She also writes and presents courses for SNAs, parents, teachers and healthcare professionals on our Online Training Portal.
